John 10:1-18 Summary Notes
Notes by Chi

Main points:
1.     Jesus in the passage:
a.      Jesus is the Good Shepherd
                                                    i.     He lays His life down for the sheep
ii.     He has authority, ownership and intimacy with the sheep.
iii.     He came to give life and life abundantly; He gives eternal life.
iv.     No one snatches the sheep out of His Hand.
b.     He is also the door.
                                                    i.     He is the only way for shepherd and sheep alike.
2.     We are His sheep and we hear His voice and follow Him.
3.     There are others who are not good for the sheep
a.      Hired hand- flees during trouble
b.     Thief kills, steals and destroys

Questions to aid in discovering the passage:
1.     Whose voice have you been listening to this week:
a.      Which voices have been giving you ‘life and life abundantly’?
b.     Which voices have been ‘killing, stealing and destroying’?
2.     What is ‘life and life abundantly’ to you?

Application questions for us:
1.     How do we hear God’s voice?
2.     How we can be Good Shepherds?
3.     What are places in which we entered by the door compared to places we climbed in?
4.     How do we differentiate between shepherd, hired hands, strangers, robbers, thieves and wolves?
5.     What things/sheep Father God has given us that cannot be snatched out of His or our hand?
6.     What are the charges Father God given us?
7.     What is the parallel between God’s relationship to Jesus and Jesus’ relationship with us? (I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.)
